Multiwall polycarbonate for your project

Multiwall polycarbonate is a layered material used in structures where light transmission, low weight, and resistance to environmental conditions are important.

It is most commonly used in roof and wall systems, greenhouses, industrial and commercial buildings, and lightweight structures.

The right solution is selected after assessing the specific structure, loads, dimensions, and required sheet thickness.

Sheets

Choose by structure and application

Multiwall sheets are grouped by internal structure and thickness. These parameters affect rigidity, weight, thermal performance, and suitability for a particular structure.

Twin-wall polycarbonate sheet structure

Twin Wall

Twin-wall sheets

A light-transmitting solution for lightweight glazing systems.

Triple-wall polycarbonate structure

Triple Wall

Triple-wall sheets

A three-wall structure that balances light transmission with structural stability.

Triple X polycarbonate structure

Triple X

Triple X sheets

An X-reinforced structure for constructions exposed to higher loads.

Five Wall

Five-wall sheets

Greater rigidity and improved thermal-insulation performance for more demanding structures.

Structures

How the internal structures differ

The diagram helps compare the main structures. The final sheet type and thickness are selected according to the requirements of the specific structure.

Properties

Key properties of multiwall polycarbonate

Properties depend on the specific sheet, thickness, colour, and selected configuration.

01

Thermal insulation

The multiwall structure helps reduce heat transfer and provide better thermal insulation in different climate conditions.

02

Light transmission up to 84%

Clear sheets can transmit up to 84% of natural daylight.

03

Temperature range: from -40 to +120 °C

The material retains stable properties across a wide temperature range.

04

Filters 98% of UV radiation

The protective layer filters more than 98% of UV radiation and helps protect the material.

05

10 / 15 / 20-year warranty

The standard warranty is 10 years. With additional solutions, it can be extended to 15 or 20 years.

06

Behaviour in fire

When exposed to fire, polycarbonate melts without producing burning droplets. The specific fire-reaction class depends on the product and is stated in the technical documentation.

Strength

High impact resistance and low weight

01

4 ×

more impact-resistant than PVC of the same thickness

02

10 ×+

more impact-resistant than acrylic (PMMA) of the same thickness

03

200 ×

more impact-resistant than glass of the same thickness

Multiwall polycarbonate sheets offer high impact resistance while remaining lightweight. Depending on structure and thickness, sheets weigh 0.55–3.2 kg/m².

The stated values are indicative and may vary by product. Project decisions must be based on the technical documentation for the selected sheet.

Production

Applications and responsible resource use

Customisation options

Sheets can be adapted to the requirements of a specific project.

  • Cutting to specified dimensions
  • Protective film with individual branding
  • UV protection on both sides
  • Option to extend the warranty to 15 or 20 years
  • Pre-prepared sheet sets
  • Custom colours and other solutions as required

Sustainability

Raw materials are used responsibly, with environmental requirements taken into account.

  • Production offcuts and cutting waste are recycled and returned to the process
  • At the end of their service life, sheets can be reused
  • Recyclable protective films and packaging materials are used

Use

From storage to maintenance

Storage and transport

Sheets must be protected from surface damage and deformation of their internal structure.

  • Store horizontally on wooden pallets; do not stack more than three pallets in one place
  • Protect from direct sunlight and precipitation
  • Lift sheets only on pallets; do not lift them directly with forklift forks or crane slings
  • Remove the protective film only during installation and without sharp tools

Installation and care

Correct installation and gentle cleaning help preserve sheet performance.

  • Wear protective gloves during installation and use load-distributing supports
  • Do not walk directly on the sheets
  • Clean with warm water, mild detergent, and a soft cloth or sponge
  • Clean larger surfaces with a water jet or steam not exceeding 90 °C

Warranty and standards

10-year warranty, extendable to 15 or 20 years

The warranty covers the effects of natural material ageing caused by environmental exposure, including reduced light transmission or changes in mechanical properties. It does not cover damage caused by strong winds, hail, excessive snow loads, improper use, or installation.

The quality-management system complies with ISO 9001:2015, while the manufactured polycarbonate sheets meet the requirements of the EN 16153:2013+A1:2015 product standard. Detailed warranty terms depend on the selected product and configuration.

Project

Selecting the right structure, thickness, and configuration

When selecting a solution, the structure, loads, dimensions, and conditions of use are assessed.
